Triathlon Coaching and Plan for IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant & IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant
Tremblant is one of our “local” Ironman races! Every year, our coaches and athletes make the trek north of Montreal to race both the full- and half-distance race. If you haven’t been to Tremblant, put it on your list. It’s an adult recreational playground where you can eat pizza and drink a beer on the run course! Your family will love it.
Tremblant is like a box of chocolates. Come prepared for anything on race day. One year it’s hot and humid; the next it’s freezing, hypothermic conditions. Showing up super fit is your best defense.
Lake Tremblant can be surprisingly cold given that, unless you are local, many people will have been open water swimming in more southern lakes with much higher water temperatures. Come prepared for a cold water swim. Fog can also delay the start; have a snack handy on race day morning in case you stand around (better yet, sit) for 30’ or longer. Adrenaline burns glycogen quickly, so it’s important to keep fueling and drinking right up until race start.
The Tremblant bike course has hills. You will face a series of short, long, sharp and grinding hill climbing throughout the course. For most northern Eastern US and Canada triathletes it will feel familiar. For those who live in flatter terrain, we will recreate the demands of the hills via low cadence work and intervals on the trainer. We will get you fit and ready to tackle all of the climbs.
The run course is not as hilly. You’ll have other challenges like maintaining technique under fatigue during the long run! Ironman, both full and half distance, requires run fitness, durability and strength. Our training process includes all components you will need on race day.

Coaching Tip: Book your hotel reservations early in order to stay in one of the hotels within walking distance of the start/finish area. Hotels book 9 - 12 months in advance. Be a hero for your support crew!
